
Nathan L. Jacobson, P.E. to Speak at New York Water
Environment Association Meeting
The New York Environment Association,
Inc. has invited Nathan
L. Jacobson, P.E. to make a presentation on how the wastewater treatment facilities of the
Charlemont, MA Sewer District were upgraded so as to bring the treated effluent into compliance
with the District's discharge permit.
The presentation will be made at the Association's
73rd Annual Meeting on Wednesday, February 7, 2001 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.

Geoffrey L. Jacobson, P.E. Named
to NEMO Project Advisory Committee
The NEMO Project (Nonpoint Education for Municipal Officials) was created in
1991 by the University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension System, in partnership with the
Department of Natural Resources Management and Engineering, and the Connecticut Sea Grant Program.
The Project is an educational program for land use decision makers that addresses the relationship between
land use and natural resource protection, with a focus on water resources.
The NEMO project has won national awards from the American Planning Association and the National Environmental Education
and Training Foundation. Jacobson will serve on the Site Design Subcommittee, which provides
technical review of design materials developed by the NEMO staff, and provides suggestions for the
development of new materials.

Brian C. Curtis, P.E. to Speak at Environmental Health Association

The Connecticut Environmental Health Association has invited Brian C. Curtis, P.E., the principal
in charge of our Wastewater Collection & Treatment projects, to make a presentation on submersible
wastewater pump stations serving household and small commercial subsurface sewage disposal
systems.
The presentation will be made at the Association meeting held on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 at the Hole
in the Wall Gang Camp in Ashford, Connecticut.

Receives Merit Award for Bridge Design Project |
In December, 2000, the Connecticut Engineers in Private Practice honored
Nathan L. Jacobson & Associates, Inc. with a Merit Award for their design of the Cherry Hill
Road Bridge project in Middlefield, Connecticut.
These awards are given each year to
recognize consulting engineers whose projects demonstrate merit and ingenuity and which
provide a contribution to technical, economic and social advancement. J. Howard Pfrommer, P.E.,
the principal in charge of our bridge projects, served as project manager and principal
designer for this project.
